It was a dark and stormy night… as the steampunks, artists, DJs, performers, young bohemians and curiousity-seekers gathered for what was an enchanting night of costumed revelry, dancing, spectacle, drink and song.
Logan Square’s Stan Mansion set the stage for the Art Gallery of the Future, a grand ballroom with impressive art installations including a virtual dome, a sizable Eiffel Tower, moving gears and a parlor area bar.
The theme of the event was the Age of Invention — a perfect blend of the glory days of mechanical steam power and modern digital innovation. It was truly an “all-out” effort that delighted and impressed guests.
Talent was sourced from all corners of Chicago’s underground and emerging artists. Performers included included violinist Dominick Johnson, electro swing DJ Mr. Automatic, Grinder talent extraordinaire Ammo, Environmental Encroachment Marching Band, Pyrotechniq Fire Troupe, Lady Gaea, Gypsy-Jazz-Alt-Folk Le Percolateur ensemble, and live-painting by unique futurist artist Jason Brammer.
There was so much going on, it was challenging to take it all in. Hopefully, you can get a feel for art and performance via my photo gallery.
